8.27 - Cardio

Posted in Cardio by Nammerz on the August 28th, 2008

So my shoes finally came in today! I currently train in my track warm-up inspired pumas, which have virtually no soles anyways so these Nike Free’s aren’t groundbreaking of any sort. I decided to get a pair because I wanted some flat shoes that I could do some sprints in, as well. This saves me the trouble of having to get two pairs of shoes. Let me say this, though, it’s pretty much impossible to find Nike Free’s out in the wild anymore. Nike discontinued most of the Nike Free line except for a pair of white Free 3.0’s that they sell on their sight. I had to resort to Ebay to buy these.

Having finally received them in the afternoon today, I–like anyone else–wanted to put them to use. Unfortunately, it rained all day today, and I didn’t want the shitty weather to mess them up already. I resorted to the next best alternative: HIIT on the treadmill at home. Although it wasn’t really an intense workout, I got a good feel of how the shoes were. To be honest, nothing amazed me about the shoe but at the same time, nothing disappointed me either. One thing I do like about these are that they offer more lateral support than my current shoes in that they have a wider heel and have a little more structure, which is good and bad depending on how you look at it. I did have to tie them a little tighter though because I think I might’ve gotten them a half size too big–it would’ve been nice to have tried these on in a store first. Oh well, I’ve owned enough pairs of shoes that were either too big or too small that I think I’ll be fine. I might just use them to train only, and sprint barefoot on one of the newly sodded fields.

HIIT on treadmill:
5 min warmup
12 min interval work: 30s sprint/90s jog
5 min cooldown

As opposed to doing ME Row tmrw, I think I’m just doing a complete upper body workout. My friend called me up to workout tmrw, so I’m changing it up a little bit. Such is life.
