5x5 program 1bp/week, starting light, and gradually increasing the weight.

Max-OT-esque type programs have not worked for me (past 3-4 weeks).

Hiking in the Spring of this year was the most effective workout I've ever done. I was going a few days a week and my shortest hikes were around 90 minutes. Longer ones were 4 or 5 hours. I lost 20lbs in 6 weeks.

I've somehow managed to keep about 10 of them off, even though I sat on my butt all summer. Can't hike when it's 120 degrees outside, and that's all I wanted to do at the time so I did nothing instead.
