This was the sequel to Tuesday’s workout

. . . and like all sequels, it was bigger, more intense, and sucked.

The squats were especially tough because my legs were still sore, and the row was tough because I haven’t done any cardio since I don’t know when. I had planned to do 10 minutes and only ended up doing 6. I was alternating 30 seconds fast/slow.

this was not an easy workout for me. if I trained like this 3 times per week I’d be ripped.

This is the longest I’ve taken off since I started my “fall workout season” on Sept 1. Six days.

I got on the bench and started pumping out reps WAY too easily - you know how when you throw the bar up real fast the weights make the little *ding* sound at the top? - I thought wow, 155 has never felt this easy, a week off is just what I needed! When I was done I got up and realized I had forgotten to add the 10lb plates.

Even though I’ve been lifting weights on and off for 11 years, I’ve somehow managed to never do a squat until today. I look forward to doing many more.

The workout doesn’t look very intense on paper but I felt really strong so I consider it a success.

We did the Donkey Flats trail it’s supposed to be 6.7 miles but we got lost and ended up doing about 9. It was actually pretty scary. Thought we might have to spend the night in the desert.

There are supposed to be wild donkeys in the area but we didn’t see any.

Roadwork

I felt great for the first ~2 miles. My stride was open and long, my legs felt great, and I was breathing good. I wish I’d had a watch on because that felt like a personal record. Then I ran into a hill that I had forgotten about when I planned my route. A really, really ridiculously steep hill (and long, too.) I wasn’t mentally prepared for it and it got in my head and threw off the rest of my run. It’s ok. I’ll conquer it soon enough.

I did the Grovers–>16th St.–>Utopia loop.
